Does "Everyone Have Blonde Days"?

Over the last few years I have interviewed women of all nationalities, and occupations. I have stopped them at malls, grocery stores and women’s events, to see if they have experienced blonde days. They usually laugh out loud, then share hilarious stories as they admit to their embarrassing misadventures.

Here's one of mine:

For all to See

After a week of seminars in Eugene, Oregon, I was returning home to Alberta. Along with running my retail business, I taught image and self-improvement seminars, make-up artistry, and dressing-for-success classes, so I always tried to practice what I taught. No matter how uncomfortable I felt, I wanted to be dressed properly. For the flight home, I wore a business suit with a flared skirt and my favorite three-inch heels, which I hoped would make me look taller and thinner. I also carried a briefcase to make sure I looked the part of a businesswoman.

I had a two-hour layover in San Francisco, California. Feeling a little frayed from my hectic week, I went to the restroom to freshen up. I powdered my nose, dabbed on some lipstick, straightened my suit jacket, picked up my briefcase, and walked out.

After about fifteen minutes of looking around the terminal, I was leisurely strolling towards my gate of departure when I was startled by a woman who rushed up me. She whispered in my ear, “Honey, your skirt is tucked into your panty hose.”

I was horrified. I didn’t know whether to sit down on the floor right there, run to a corner and hide, or rush to the nearest restroom. I did the latter. I was so distraught I forgot to pull my skirt out of my panty hose—I just ran.

As I was standing in the restroom stall in complete humiliation, my mind raced to all the places I had been in the terminal and all the people who had seen me. My first thought was that I would just stay in the restroom stall forever. However, reality began to set in, and I remembered that my husband was picking me up at the airport in Calgary in just a few hours. I stayed hidden until I heard the announcement that my flight was starting to board. I knew I would have to leave the restroom if I was going to make my

plane. I wondered if the airline personnel would let me get on the plane with a bag over my head. I checked in and found my seat without looking at anyone, although I am sure some of the people were wondering about the blonde woman in seat 14A.©

Reflections

I do not like to think back on that humiliating day, but I know there is a God in heaven who is never embarrassed or surprised at the mistakes I make.

Like a loving father, he will hold me close and wipe away the tears of humiliation and frustration. He will set me back on the right path, cheer and encourage me to do my best for him©

Blonde moments are something everyone experiences no matter what color hair we have, and when those unexpected, laugh out loud events happen, we know it must be a “Blonde” day. You may not have blonde hair, but I bet somewhere there are a few blonde roots! ©
